How to Apply to Foster/Adopt

Almost Home offers a unique program that benefits both you and the animal. All our adoptions begin with a two-week foster. You and Almost Home will decide at that time whether or not the animal is a good fit for you. While the animal is fostered by you, you should of course take him/her to your vet for a  health screening. (We can also recommend a vet in your area.)

Start the process by going to “our adoptable animals” page on this website and learn about our wonderful animals!

Next, click here to fill out an application online: it’s the easiest way to do it! But, if you prefer, download and print the application and mail it to us at Almost Home, P.O.Box 250602,West Bloomfield, MI 48325, or fax it to 248-200-2695 (call the shelter first and let someone know you want to fax an application).

Or,simply come to one of our fun-filled adoption events.

Note: Please bring a copy of your application with you to the shelter, or one of the pet adoptions.

Because we review applications very carefully, it is in your best interest to fill out your application as soon as possible - and as completely as possible. This allows us to carefully review it and gives us an opportunity to then talk with qualified applicants about the animal in more detail. Also, your application helps us make a real love connection!

If you are not called after applying for one of our loveable orphans, there could be any number of reasons. For example:

1. Almost Home needs to further review your application.

2. The animal you want has already been adopted (in which case we hope you will consider another animal)

3. Your application is not well-suited to this particular animal.

4. Your application is one of hundreds!  And, though every email and phone call is important to us (and to the animals!), we might not be able to get to you that quickly. Because we receive so many inquiries, it is always best to contact us again (email is a good way to ensure that we receive your information.)
